NWIHS Terms of Reference Objectives

  1. Implementing the “system of self assessment” laid down by Higher Education Commission to bring consistency in the evaluation system of the institution.
  2. Setting up of a system involving the stakeholders to seek evidence based information to facilitate and strengthen the capacity of institution to offer quality education.
  3. Effective use of Quality Assurance processes for the assessment of the performance of the faculty, quality / relevance of the courses / programs offered.
  4. To set standards in terms of knowledge, skills and attributes a student develops on completing a specific program.
  5. Enhancing the standardization of examination system by introducing innovative, reliable and transparent mechanisms in theory as well as practical assessments, pivoted around.
  6. Task Oriented Assessment of Clinical Skills (TOACS), Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE) through concerted efforts at the national Level.
  7. Seeking collaboration in various fields of common interest with local and international bodies.

Functions of QMC

QEC/QMC is
    1. Is to be headed by Administrator reporting directly to chairman. He is to be in correspondence with the outside bodies.
    2. Is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
    3. Is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
    4. Is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
    5. Is responsible to develop program specifications. These are standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.
    6. Is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
    7. Is responsible to ensure that the institute’s quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
