The International Finance Corporation (IFC) team paid a visit to the Northwest Institute of Health Sciences Ring Road Peshawar on Wednesday 22nd November 2023.
The team was headed by Mr. Alexandre Fernandes, Chief Investment Officer IFC along with Ms. Syeda Humaira Akhtar, Associate Investment Officer, IFC.
Mr. Afsar Khan, Chief Operating Officer, NWIHS received and welcomed the delegates. HODs and faculty of the institute were introduced to the IFC team. A brief overview of the institute was given by Mr. Afsar Khan, COO, NWIHS. He applauded the role and support of the IFC and termed it instrumental in the development of the institute.
Later on, a detailed presentation about the strengths and strategic plans of the NWIHS was given by Dr. Subhan-Ur-Rehman, Principal, Northwest College of Rehabilitation Sciences. He shed light on curriculum development, research projects, academic facilities, information technology and future plans of the institute.
NWIHS has state-of-the-art health care facilities including Northwest General Hospital and Northwest Teaching Hospital having 600+ beds capacity. Our students and graduates are being engaged there in doing relevant health practices.
The institute offers a variety of scholarships each year including merit and need-based. Apart from this, NWIHS has been providing various facilities including a student Lounge, Cafeteria, Indoor Sports, IT Lab, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and Hostel and Transport facility.
Dr. Shafiq wazir, Head of the Institutional Research Board (IRB) also shared research-related projects and highlighted the significance of research works in the institute.
The team carried out a comprehensive inspection of the departments, and facilities including the Information Technology Lab, Science Labs and Skills Labs, Lecture Rooms and Library. The IFC Officials showed great satisfaction over the facilities and requirements duly provided by the institute and vowed its support in future planning.
