Anesthesia Technology

welcome to Department of Anesthesia

Anesthesia Technology is an emerging discipline of Allied Health Profession. BS in Anesthesia Technology at NWIHS is an undergraduate program based on knowledge, extensive clinical practicum and research. The curriculum for this course includes a combination of courses including Basic Medical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Social Sciences and Specialized courses related to the field of Anesthesia, such as  Equipment, Pharmacology of Anesthetics, History taking, Complications Related to Anesthesia and Critical Care, as well as far-reaching clinical training. By the end of this program, student will be able demonstrate competence in knowledge, skill and practices in compliance with national and international standards of patient care.

NWIHS was the first private institution in KPK to offer this program. Our faculty members are pioneers of the field in Pakistan. Our curriculum is in line with international standards, hence graduates can apply for various international certifications after graduating from NWIHS. We ensure early and maximum clinical practice at our State-of-the-Art hospitals, NWGH and NWTH, with focus on patient care training in technologically advanced operation theaters. Supervised clinical research is an integral part of this course. We regularly conduct workshops like BLS, CLS and ACLS in Emergency and Critical care.

With warm wishes, I invite you to join us at NWIHS.

ASSESSMENT

Throughout the semester, the student is assessed continuously through the following stages:

Continuous internal assessment of students in all subjects is carried out by the respective subject teachers and a  proper record of the internal assessment is maintained. The scores obtained in the internal assessment contribute to the university examination of the candidate, in accordance with the rules of  the Khyber Medical University (KMU).

It is a formative assessment done near the middle of the academic semester. Result is shared with the students and their parents for feedback. It contributes towards 30% of the final semester result.

It is a summative assessment which is done at the end of semester. This is the final examination held by KMU where the successful students are promoted to the next semester and failures are retained in the same class.

No student is eligible for university examination without having attended a cumulative 75% of the total lectures for each subject.

A student can be stopped by the NWIHS authorities from appearing in the University examination on account of poor academic performance, short attendance during the respective academic semester, misconduct or failure to pass midterm examination.
