World Anesthesia Day Observed in NWIHS

World Anesthesia Day is observed around the world on 16 October each year to raise awareness and education about safe usage of anesthesia in surgical and medical process. The day also highlights the importance of painless surgery with the introducing of anesthesia technology in the field of medicine for 170 years ago.
To honor the significant role played by anesthetists in our lives, Northwest Institute of Health Sciences marked the day with an awareness walk-followed by a seminar at the main auditorium of the institute. The event was attended by faculty, students of Anesthesia department NWIHS along with senior technologists of various institutes. Mr. Matiullah, Head of Department Anesthesia Khyber Medical University IPMS, also graced the event.
The speakers emphasized on the importance of anesthesia in surgical procedures and the critical nature of its administration. They said that basic aim of celebrating the day is to create awareness and education among patients and anesthesia practitioners about its safe usage. They said that even today five billion people lack access to safe, timely and affordable anesthesia.
The speakers focused on to keep high level professionalism in administrating anesthesia to patients and making the process friendly. The role of anesthetists is like a bridge between patient and physician. Anesthetist should keep great care of every moment of the patient.
Later on, certificates and prizes were awarded to the guests and best performing students.
